Seattle Best Ophthalmologist
LASIK is the laser eye surgery that provides impressive improvement in your vision, addressing nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism effectively and safely. At the office of Dr. Sheldon Cowen, our
Seattle best ophthalmologist will perform this procedure and you can be assured that he has a vast amount of experience in doing so. LASIK succeeds over 90% of the time, so be confident in the outcome.
Refractive issues are the result of how light passes from the cornea, at the front of your eye, to the retina in back. If your cornea is misshapen, light will not strike at the center, which is what happens when your vision is normal. Instead, it lands at the front or back. With LASIK, though, our
Seattle best ophthalmologist reshapes your cornea so that light will reach your retina at or much closer to the center. This leads to vision that will either permit you to get rid of your glasses or contacts entirely, or at the very least use them far less than you do now. A small flap of corneal tissue is opened and then pulled back to allow Dr. Cowen to reshape the cornea. The flap is then put back. Because of laser technology, there are no stitches and no bandages to concern yourself with. Most patients begin to notice better vision by the next day, with some doing so as quickly as later the same day as the procedure. Are you a good candidate? Qualifications include being at least 18 years old, having no corneal disease (past or present), and being free of eye diseases such as macular degeneration, keratoconus, and glaucoma.
Our
Seattle best ophthalmologist will do an examination and consultation, answering all of your questions. If you are considered eligible for LASIK, you can then decide if you want to go ahead with it. Call our office to set up an appointment to come in.
