Have you been thinking about having LASIK surgery? This surgery is very popular for patients who want to no longer need to wear corrective eyeglasses or contact lenses. Patients thoroughly enjoy the freedom LASIK surgery offers them regarding corrective lens wear. While not all patients qualify for LASIK surgery, most patients do. If you would like to meet with our eye surgeon and learn more about LASIK surgery, or have some other type of
Seattle eye care, visit our practice of Dr. Sheldon Cowen.
Dr. Sheldon J. Cowen is our highly-trained and well-respected ophthalmologist. Dr. Cowen provides compassionate and personalized eye care for all of our patients. LASIK surgery is just one of the procedures we commonly provide for our patients. This surgery is successful for treating almost all levels of nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism. In fact our eye care practice is the most experienced refractive/LASIK service provider in the area. Our doctor is also available to be seen for almost all types of
Seattle eye care, including eye surgery for cataracts.
LASIK surgery is performed with the use of a laser. It is done on an out-patient basis using local anesthesia. There is generally no pain associated with this procedure whatsoever. Any minor discomfort after the procedure can be treated with an over-the-counter pain medication. After surgery, patients are always very excited to be able to go through their day without needing to wear eyeglasses or contact lenses. Many of our patients tell us that they are particularly excited about being able to get up in the morning and not need to reach for their glasses. To qualify for LASIK surgery you need to be over 18 years of age. There are some patients who do not prove to be good candidates for LASIK surgery. However, our eye doctor will be happy to discuss with you other exciting, innovative eye treatments that are available to help improve your vision. LASIK surgery is generally performed on both eyes at the same time. If you have had a new vision prescription in less than two years’ time, you may need to wait some additional time before LASIK surgery can be performed.
